A beautiful thing

tanning on a gorgeous,
summer day,
hoping to out shine,
every other girl,
in her tiny bikini,
all the young males,
drooling males,
as they do their household,
chores with mom cussing in,
the house because of their rooms,

this is why i love small town life,
apple pie steaming up the house,
teen love birds holding hands,
out of parents sight,
even thou their parents eventually find out,
the smell of barbeques,
fill the air wiht chicken, hamburgers,
and steak,
no early birds,
and the occasional early risers,
small town life is a beautifull thing,

the pastor said god is smiling,
on us every day,
and every night,
there couldnt be a more perfect night,
to go down to the pool,
for a quick dip,
to cool off from this,
hundred degree heat,
laying next to a warm fire,
as dad tells a christmas story,
with young ears,
listening with glee,

This is why i love small town life,
tree a turning colors,
when october arrives,
mom making pumpkin pie,
as dad drools over her shoulder,
lights filling the air,
when christmas rolls around,
kids a screaming over gifts they,
got or didn't get,
a man and wife,
walking their dogs,
down the town park,
picking up droppings as they go,
with an grocery bag
small town life is a beautiful thing,

Even thou i might be,
leaving for the glory,
of a big city,
in yuma arizona,
you can bet i will,
be back to enjoy this,
beautiful thing,
that is,
girl and boy kissing,
for the first time,
in front of the local shop,
fishing in the creek,
of a small town known,
as athena,
i'll bee seeing ya,
so enjoy this
